Before our Homeschooling Journey began we ate out-a lot, we didn’t study the Bible near enough (Sundays & Wednesdays only) and we didn’t slow down to really appreciate each other and love each other the way God wanted us to.
We probably didn’t eat out as much as some people do, but 2-3 times a week was too much for me. We were just so busy with after school activities and other busyness that we didn’t have a lot of time to cook delicious home cooked meals.
Sundays and Wednesdays are a great time to fellowship and worship God, but I missed Bible study time during the week…like when I was little. My Daddy or Momma would read to us from the Bible a lot and I wanted to do the same thing for my children, but again all the busyness in life seemed to get in the way.
You never know how much time you are really wasting until you slow down and look around. Seriously, you have no clue. Well, at least I didn’t.
Since we began our Homeschool Journey our family is changing for the better! 💚
Majority of the time, our meals are delicious home cooked meals…and from scratch too. We now have a daily Bible study lesson we do together, as a family, every day. And we have slowed down tremendously.
We have time to prep and cook meals together. We eat at the table most of the time and talk about what’s been going on in our lives or whatever comes to mind (it can be pretty interesting sometimes). Sometimes we choose to eat in the front room and watch a movie together…usually on our once-a-month pizza night. Eating together in the comfort of your own home is a family bonding moment. I highly recommend it!
I also highly recommend having a daily Bible study with your children. Even if all the time you have is 30 minutes…every minute spent with God is well worth it, especially when you study as a family. I love learning about the gospels and scriptures with my children…again, this is a great bonding experience.
Slowing down is also something everybody should do every now and then…even if it can’t be a permanent thing.
We no longer have public school, tutoring, sports and activities to fill 40+ hours of our time each week. Now we have time to really get to know each other, find common interests, appreciate each other and have fun with each other.
We have time to be a family.
I know that not everybody will choose to homeschool, but I do know that everybody can choose to set aside time for their family. In my opinion, a lot of the problems in the USA begin with the “busyness” of our lives. I believe that if we all just slowed down for a little while each day and spent time with our Bibles and families, this would be a much better (and safer) place to live. That’s just my opinion.
