Goodbye, Spring Garden

On Monday, September 19th, I said goodbye to my very first garden, my spring/summer 2016 garden. It was hard to say goodbye, but it needed to be done so I could plant my fall crops.

As I harvested the last of the veggies, I thanked God for all of His blessings. I didn’t quite know how my first garden would turn out, especially since I was going at this organically, but I was pleasantly pleased.

I had a few plants that were eaten by a bunny when they were around 4″ tall, I had some plants that died, and I had some plants that were eaten alive by bugs, but the plants that made it were very hardy and productive.

I definitely learned a lot this year, that’s for dang sure!

I kept a journal, so I’ll be able to use it for my next spring/summer garden. I wrote down when each type of bug arrived, when different plant illnesses arrived (e.g., powdery mildew), and which organic treatments worked and didn’t work.

My children also learned a lot about gardening this year, and they will continue to learn by helping me with the fall garden.

All in all, I would say this was a very successful year and I owe it all to the good Lord above. Without Him, I wouldn’t have been able to do it. πŸ’š
